My presented work is a dialogue between contrasting materials, choreographed in a considered exchange of formal and informal interlocking components; a synergy created to articulate a meaningful presence bringing form and space into a parallel balance.

The large grid structures are made from sixteen squares of steel each with sixteen pin-type nails welded to each base. The nails normally used in architectural industry are now given a new purpose; their identity is transformed and their fineness defined as they hold the winding movement of the hand-knitted cord. The grid formations create a boundary within the space and the series of squares become stations of activity as they are brushed by the flowing movement of colour; this creates a drawing of both angular and rounded lines formed within the confines of the structure. The materials have their own identification and significance, but the soft texture of the cord contrasting with the metal squares accentuates the combined forms, presenting a visual charisma.
